Hey y'all!!! I'm Rae Smallwood, the owner and baker of The Mad Batter Cake Co.
I have always had a passion for baking, so in 2015, I decided to turn it into a little side hobby. I started off as "Whiskey River Cupcakes" in order to earn some extra income. A few years later, I realized that name wasn't exactly portraying me as a kid friendly/family friendly business which was not allowing me to grow. At this point, my kiddos were getting involved in lots of sports and this extra income would be critical in giving them all the opportunities I could, therefore, Mad Batter Cupcakes was born!!! Yes, yes, I know, the name was AWESOME!!! LOVED. THAT. NAME. I only made cupcakes at the time, the thought of making a cake that was anything more than cake and icing, sent me running for the hills!!! I eventually took a chance and made my momma a FANCY birthday cake. Y'all. I found my zen! I LOVE making cakes! Honestly, the bigger and more challenging it is, the better! I also make a to-die-for cookie cake, my cookies and preacher cookies (peanut butter delights to some) are melt-in-your-mouth-perfect, AND, my husband and I recently ventured into cake pops and let me just say, my kiddo thought I bought them from that super popular coffee place that rhymes with Farshucks (I can't mention their actual name) Yes, I said my husband.... lets be honest, making cake pops is not for the faint hearted, so to tell y'all I need his help with them, is an understatement! Anyways, with his encouragement and support, and the 2 best taste testers on the east coast, my kiddos, I decided to take a leap of faith and turn my little hobby into a full blown business! Formally Mad Batter Cupcakes, The Mad Batter Cake Co. is not only taking special orders for weddings, birthdays, baby showers, parties, cookouts, and dinner time, WE ARE GOING MOBILE!!!! Y'all, I got a CUPCAKE TRAILER!!!!!!!!! We will be setting up at fairs, car shows, festivals, flea markets, parking lots, food truck rodeos and everything in between!!! This new adventure is going to be amazing so keep your eye out for all the places we will be going and for cakes sake, order some goodies!!!! Love~ Rae
